Every time the same problem: Nobody is looking for summerlike rags until there’s the first warm day. And when there’s the first snow, the whole world needs a coat. The store are full of people, shopping is a pain and the own size is sold – always, guaranteed.
We are able to do it better – so let’s dare a look on what will be hip in the coming winter season. First part: D&G.
Retro style with colors and commerce
colors and commerce
The acute label, known for its showy and curious collections, sees the winter through retro glasses: A gay mix of the complete sample board, eye catchers to the core. A time travel back to the colorful and easygoing 60s and 70s. As if they would like to say the times can be earnest, but fashion is not.
So D&G merrily combines everything with everything. Sneakers and a suit is one of the most harmless mixes. The men wear skinny chinos, best in flashy and intensive colors. In addition similar showy high top sneakers and a top in a vintage shade. Commerce is a big theme, so many of them have all-over prints of Mickey Mouse or Coca-Cola. Or both together. Whether normal, upside down or completely disordered.
Nothing for business
my favorite style - just perfect for a "casual friday"
Many outfits are presented with a skirt and a tie, but between all the chunky knitwear it’s hard to find something suitable for business. At least there’s a very interesting style where the jacket is replaced by a mix of a cardigan and a blouson. I’m addicted to say that that’s my favorite of the whole collection. So for the casual Friday or a job as a creative you can find tons of wear – a CEO seems to become a laughing stock with the D&G this winter.
The woman collection follows the retro way and combines colorful leggings with all over prints to casual jackets. All-important: At least one part of the outfit has to be oversized or flittering. Your search for Mickey Mouse or Coca Cola is for nothing – black writings on a colored background are all you will find. To this you wear high-heeled sneakers in the Chuck Taylor style and chains with big colorful letters as tags. And of course an absentee retro sunglass seems to be a no-go – even in the cold season. A glamorous evening dress? Negative Report!
really wearable?!
Conclusion: Good message, but implementation with stains
All in all the collection seems to be interesting. “We need no winter”, that could be the message. With retro styles D&G want us to think about the good old times, colors will help us to compensate the seasonal affective disorder. But maybe a bit more winter-like fashion would be preferable. And a bit more clothing which is not so conspicuous. Because in the end, fashion is not just art and something to transport a message – it is something I have to wear all day, every day.
